[ there is a couch. and gwen is curled up in a tiny ball on one of three of its cushions. she's in a tank top and some sweats, though it's hard to tell whether they're pjs or workout clothes, and she's resting her chin on her hand.

[ to say the spacestation is out of the way is like saying that swiss cheese may have a hole or two in it. hovering at the edge of federation space, it's not a place that's anything even remotely close to what most federation citizens expect of a spacestation. it's large, but there's hardly anyone that's ever there. just enough people to keep it relatively tidy and in a condition that means everything runs, even if it doesn't run quite how it was originally built to.
it's a way station, really. a place for travelers to stop for a night or three to just get off the starship and into a different environment to stave off restlessness. it also has one of the best bars this side of the galaxy, which is why it's jim's favorite stop-off.
the people that run it are just shady enough for overlooking under-the-table deals and for slightly illegal alcohol, but still pay enough attention to the rules that they stay under the radar. yet another reason why jim likes them, and why he's there at the moment. not that he's doing any deals today, but illegal liquor is almost always a good thing in his books.
we just don't talk about that one time with the romulan ale. ]
