[ to say that he's a little surprised when bones walks out into the cold is like saying oh, yeah, russia's a decent sized country. he is, to put it simply, dumbfounded. it was hard enough to convince his friend to give the cold of the great plains a try, and now he's standing out in the fresh snow like an idiot. jim shakes his head and goes out after him. ]
Get back inside, you dumbass. You're going to give yourself frostbite or pneumonia or something.
[ and isn't this an interesting role-reversal. jim worrying over bones doing something stupid that could end with him in sickbay. he would laugh if he weren't so concerned with half pushing, half dragging bones back inside where it's warm and where jim can shove him onto the couch.
his toes are going to be freezing, even from just a little bit of cold and snow. but bones is lucky. the biggest plastic bowl jim owns is clean and he can very easily fill it up with hot water for bones to dunk his toes in. and, of course, there's the tiny, furry space heater that has decided bones is his new best friend. ]
( He almost digs in his heels and refuses to be moved, for a second. But then he realizes being stubborn for the sake of it will probably result in his premature demise so he lets Jim push him back inside and now his feet are burning in the way that skin does when it’s cold but no longer numb. Bones shifts from one foot to the other and tries to think of a good explanation for what he just did, but he can’t.
He sits down on the couch and the cat immediately curls up with him, so Bones pets him idly for a moment before he decides against some kind of rant and says, quietly: ) Sometimes it’s just good to have both your feet on the ground.
wow this is hella late...
